Greetings from your ARMA Oregon Chapter

I hope that this message finds you and your loved ones doing well.

The ARMA Oregon Board of Directors met in August to plan for this year’s presentations for monthly meetings and while we have many dynamic presenters who bring interesting topics, we find ourselves, once again, in a scenario where we look to the month of October for our first meeting and not September. Additionally, instead of the usual “second Tuesday after the first Wednesday” for our monthly meeting, due to our October presenter’s availability, we will have a one-time change to our monthly meeting’s schedule and will be pushing it out to Tuesday, October 26th. More information about our October meeting is to come in our newsletter, which is due to be sent out shortly.

Speaking of our newsletter, I wanted to take this opportunity to mention that Amanda Watson has taken over the role as ARMA Oregon’s Newsletter Director. We look forward to the new insight and energy she will bring to our board membership team in her new role. As for our other board members, Nasir McKnight, remains for a second year as the ARMA Oregon Secretary, Lindsay Lambert, begins her third year as Treasurer, and Jenny Phengdara, enters a second tour of duty as our Education Director. There are a few vacancies on the board and I like to take every opportunity to encourage chapter members to consider joining the board membership team. If you are an outgoing person who has a welcoming disposition, I would like to encourage you to consider stepping into the role as Director of Membership. Please contact me if you are interested.

Another vacancy is at the top spot; the Oregon ARMA Chapter President. This is the position that I left after serving in that role for the past two years. This year I will transition toward my new role as Past President where I will continue to assist the current board of directors in their mission to continue to provide excellent records and information management programming, promote access to resources that enhance professional development, and serve as a place for RIM professionals to network. As much as I am eager to continue to play an advice and assistance role for current board membership, I look forward to playing less of an up-front leadership role as current board members take on those duties. You can look forward to Lindsay, Nasir, Amanda, or Jenny call future meetings to order, introduce presenters, and facilitate the flow of meetings. I have enjoyed our board meetings so far this year and am excited about the year to come. I think you will agree with me and find that our current board membership is full of energy and has great ideas for the upcoming 2021-2022 ARMA Oregon year!

On behalf of the Oregon ARMA Board, I wish you well in the coming year and look forward to seeing you (virtually), in the year to come.

Kind regards,

~Connor
