What a year it has been! We started the 2019/2020 ARMA Oregon Chapter year out with a presentation by Ryan Wadleigh, on records management system migration, which was very informative for those of us who are employed by organizations going through similar migrations. Andrew Ysasi, gave attendees a much-needed overview of the Information Governance Body of Knowledge (IGBOK). Warren Bean, gave practical advice on strategies for electronic records management and Oregon’s State Archivist, Stephanie Clark, hosted us in Salem and gave a tour of the State Archives and further insight into her goals and strategies for archiving and records management improvements in Oregon.  We had an enjoyable 2020 Welcome the New Year Party where chapter members and their significant others were able to take an evening to unwind and fellowship with one another. And then came COVID-19.

For many of you who, like me, grapple with what the “new normal” will look like, it may be of some small consolation to know that your ARMA Oregon Chapter will continue on. A ballot will be going out to chapter members to re-elect board members and to present an opportunity to those who would like to engage in the chapter by stepping up to fill vacancies (e.g., Secretary and Director of Education). If you are a person who wants to contribute to the chapter, but a position of leadership on the Board is too much of a commitment, the ballot will also be an opportunity for you to put forth your name as a person who would be willing to present or volunteer to plan upcoming events for the 2020/2021 year. We look forward to the upcoming year, a year that doesn’t have as many cancelations as actual meetings. Until then, be healthy and stay safe.

Warm regards,
